Nighty night!!!
I love reading photography blogs. It is actually more than a love situation more like an obsession situation. Everyday when I first wake up I go down my Favorite's List on my computer and can not wait to see who has updated their blog. This morning was not that productive in terms of having lots of new blog material to read. I can't help but feel a little disappointed. I decided, "hey maybe I should take a lesson from my own disappointment and try to update this blog a little more frequently??!!! Hmmmm?". Yes, I CAN do it!
So, in the spirit of staying on top of blogging here is a good morning greeting from my little Sunshine to YOU!!!
Ummmmmm yeah, there have definitely been a few "AAAAHHHHAAAA" moments for me while learning about photography. Tonight I had a HUGE moment of clarity. My Speedlight came today and WOW what a difference! As soon as my daughter was asleep for the night I got out the manual and started reading. I also went online and watched a couple of videos and read a few blog posts on the subject. I attached the Speedlight to my camera took a deep breath adjusted my settings and viola...a decent picture taken in doors at night! I am really stunned at the difference. Worth every penny! I still LOVE (and prefer) taking pictures in natural light, there is nothing like it but with the use of a Speedlight it is a fairly close substitute. There have been so many occasions and wonderful moments missed because I refused to use my pop up flash (I am stubborn like that). I am still figuring out all of the settings but here is a shot from my first attempt at using my Speedlight. Nighty night!!
It has been raining rather heavily for CA standards for the past couple of days. It makes me even more sleepy (if that is possible). I have had the itch to start shooting more and with the lack of natural light it is making things rather tough! I HATE using my on camera flash, the pictures always seem off and unflattering. So I decided to take a big leap with the help of a B&H Photo gift card from Christmas and purchase a Speedlight for my camera. I have been hesitant to do so because this is a whole new territory for me that I know nothing about. We all have to start somewhere though right?! So once I get my new friend in the mail (hopefully next week) I will be devoting all of my free time to learning the ins and out of my Speedlight. Wish me luck!!!
It's a lazy Thursday here in the "T" house. Well, at least for some of it's members. Our furbabies love to snooze all day and can you blame them?! Nope, if I had a day with no obligations I would probably snooze all day too! My little girl now gets up at 5:30 or 6:00 everyday and it is leaving me a little groggy to say the least. More like a walking zombie. As funny as it sounds I day dream of taking naps all day long. This afternoon the pups looked extra comfy on the couch so I decided to snap some pictures. Happy almost Friday!!
There is someone in our house that is on the go now and cruising everywhere. She was once a quiet, tiny angel swaddled up in her Miracle Blanket. NOW, things are just a little bit different. Her Grandpa affectionately calls her "The Tiger", and that is quite a fitting name! She is crawling and pulling up on everything and getting into just about anything she SHOULDN'T be. ;)
The year 2009 was the year of change for us and so many around us as well. It had good and bad moments but most importantly AMAZING moments that we will never forget! I left behind a job that was once something that made me very happy and then began a new chapter as a Mom which is still to date the most intense, wonderful, life changing thing that has happened to me. Eleni has brought so much joy to our lives and we can not imagine life before her arrival. I am very excited to see what 2010 has in store for us. I know there are bunches and bunches of wonderful memories just waiting to happen! Thank you to everyone who made 2009 extra special!

We were lucky enough this year to celebrate the holidays with our sweet baby girl! She really does make everything better! It was her first Christmas and nothing made us happier than watching the fascination in her eyes as she tried to eat the wrapping paper that covered her presents! ;)
I will be updating the blog tomorrow with some of my favorite moments from 2009. I can not believe that another year has flown by. I have a feeling that 2010 is going to be an amazing year! Happy New Years Eve, hope everyone has a wonderful night!
These pictures illustrate some of my favorite things. Number one on the list, my daughter, that was an easy first choice. Number two, Christmas pajamas. They make my heart feel all warm and fuzzy. Number three, my new lens. I have read so many photography blog posts about how they love to shoot with only prime (fixed focal length) lenses. While I absolutely do LOVE my 50mm my new 24-70mm zoom kicks serious booty! I did a side by side comparison and I (so far) have seen little to no difference in sharpness. Yes, with the 50mm you can shoot really wide open which serves it's purpose. After recently shooting some families with toddlers and babies I was scooting back and forth non stop trying to get the shots I wanted with my prime. Anyhow, point of the story I LOVE my new lens. While it does make my camera a great deal heavier I love being able to zoom in super close or zoom way out to get the exact shot I want! Disclaimer: I rented a couple of different zooms that performed no where near what I was hoping for before finding my new lens. I always rent a lens a couple of times before I decide on my next purchase. Wow, I think that is what they call rambling! Anyhow, last but not least on the list of some of my favorite things is Photoshop! I love all of the fun actions they have available. I experimented with a new recipe of actions for these next shots. SO MUCH FUN!
Craziness is really what should be the title of this post. I have had zero time over the last week. Between hosting Christmas at our house and then traveling this is my first opportunity to post on here. Santa was OH-SO-GOOD to me this year! He dropped off so many cool photography related gifts, some of which include an amazing lens and a large computer monitor that makes editing so much fun! Can't wait to put them to good use!

I am loving this holiday season! I can only attribute it to one thing, my baby girl Eleni! This year Christmas is so much more exciting having a little one to share it with, even though she still is too young to really know what it means or what is going on around her. She loves looking at all of the decorations and ornaments. I love watching the interest and fascination in her eyes.
This year Ari and I could not wait a minute later than the morning after Thanksgiving to start decorating our house. We love putting the fire on and enjoying all of the little holiday touches around our home.
